Scavo was a candidate in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 108. However, in July 2012, he was removed from the ballot after 223 petition signatures were ruled invalid.[1] Scavo, if he had remained on the ballot, would have faced John T. McDonald, III and Carolyn McLaughlin in the September 13, 2012 Democratic primary.
