An effort to recall Brentoya Bray-Breamsy, Carmen Castillo, Lucy Ann Erby, and Amy Morales from their positions on the Bridgeport-Spauliding Community School District school board is underway.[1][2][3][4]
Recall supporters
The recall petitions were filed after the school board voted 4-3 against extending Superintendent Mark Whelton's contract. Bray-Breamsy, Castillo, Erby, and Morales voted against extending the contract.[1]
Recall opponents
Erby and Castillo filed an appeal against the Saginaw County Election Commission, which approved the petitions seeking their recall for circulation.[5]

No specific grounds are required for recall in Michigan. To get a recall on the ballot in Michigan, recall supporters must collect signatures equal in number to 25% of voters in the jurisdiction in the last gubernatorial election. They have 60 days between the collection of the first signature and the collection of the last signature on the petition. Recall petitions are eligible to collect signatures for 180 days.[6][7][8]
