Bowman issued the following statement regarding her bid for office:

I have worked tirelessly my entire life to help people achieve social and economic justice. I believe every person deserves the freedom and opportunities this country is known for. Recently we've seen those opportunities shrinking while those at the top continue to see their wealth grow with no regard to the workers that sacrifice to make those companies successful. I believe small businesses have been pushed out of the game while too many politicians use "small business" as a loose term to pass legislation that directly benefits large companies. When I am elected I will bring the focus back to the real small businesses in order to help grow our economy as well as take care of the employees that serve them.
