Brooke Ashjian

Brooke Ashjian represented Trustee Area 7 on the Fresno Unified School District Board of Education in California. He was first elected to the board on November 4, 2014.[1] Ashjian did not file to run for re-election in 2018.
Biography
Ashjian owns a number of businesses in the Fresno community. He has served on the Executive Sequoia Council of the Boy Scouts of America and on the Mayor's Business Friendly Fresno Task Force. He has also served as president of the Marjaree Mason Center, as treasurer of the Ararat Cemetery board and as a board member of the Fresno Heart Hospital. Ashjian and his wife have four children.[2][3]
Elections
2014
Four seats on the Fresno Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. In the Trustee Area 1 race, incumbent Cal Johnson faced three challengers, Debbie J. Darden, Christiansen L. Flemming and Charles Watkins "Muhammad", and won his bid for re-election. Trustee Area 3 incumbent Valerie Florentino Davis ran against one challenger, Esmeralda Diaz. Davis also won her bid for re-election. In Trustee Area 4, incumbent Christopher de la Cerda ran unopposed and won re-election by default. No incumbents filed to run for the Trustee Area 7 seat, leaving the race to candidates Brooke Ashjian and Ruben V. Martinez. Ashjian defeated Martinez to win a seat on the board.

Funding
Ashjian reported $28,689.40 in total contributions and $22,468.63 in total expenditures to the Fresno County Registrar of Voters as of October 18, 2014, leaving his campaign with $6,220.77 cash on hand.[4]
Endorsements
Ashjian received endorsements from the Fresno Bee and the Fresno Teachers Association.[5][6] Ashjian also received endorsements from several law enforcement officials, community members and local leaders, including former Fresno Unified Board of Education member from Trustee Area 7 Michelle Asadoorian, who did not file to run for re-election in 2014.[7] A list of his supporters can be found here.
