Brooke Chong was born in Hammond, Indiana. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Columbia College Chicago in television production. She most recently worked as an Emmy award-winning news producer at a local news station in Wichita.
  • Make Gov't work with Kansans and not against them. Representatives need to do just that represent the *people.
  • Protect our Constitutional freedoms, not take them away.
  • Unite and amplify the voices of my communities.
Public school funding - Funding cuts over the years have led to larger class sizes, program cuts, and a greater difficulty in teachers being able to meet the needs of their students. Increase funding for special education.

Reproductive Freedoms - Reproductive rights matter because they give all people access to safe reproductive health care. Meaningful ways to reduce the need for abortion need to be expanded.

Medicaid Expansion - Kansans need access to affordable healthcare and prescription drugs. Help Kansans that are stuck in the coverage gap.
I worked in news for the last 3 years. During my time as a producer I learned how to ask tough questions, listen to the people in my community, seek the truth, and most importantly, find solutions.

During Covid, I saw first-hand the impact government has on its citizens, and what happens when elected officials fail to show up. Hundreds of thousands of Kansans lost their jobs and the unemployment system was inundated with an influx of people trying to apply for assistance, many didn't get that assistance. When those people tried to contact their local representatives, nobody answered. So, they called the news station and I answered. While legislators slept, I was up during the night taking calls from Kansans struggling to find relief. I helped them get in contact with programs that could help them during their greatest time of need.

I will be there for the people of my community, because I have been.
The Junie B. Jones series. So many important life lessons in those things. We learned the important messages of respect, dignity, perseverance, honesty, kindness, and all the other traits of a good citizen.

"Kindergarten is where you go to meet new friends and not watch TV."

We all could benefit from listening to lil' Junie.
