Campaign themes

2016

Valentine's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Education

From pre-k to college, I believe that high-quality, affordable educational opportunities should be available to all. Safe and effective schools begin with ensuring that kids can come into the classroom ready to learn and that teachers have ample time, support and resources available to meet the needs of every child. We must work to solve the teacher shortage crisis, provide professional development and support, and reduce class sizes. I have been active in the PTA for years and know firsthand all of the hard work that our teachers put in to their students. They often work long hours with deep dedication to support our children. It's time that we support them, as well.

A Family Friendly Economy

As your state representative, I will work to ensure that all families are able to earn a living wage and access to paid sick leave. No parent should have to choose between paying rent and buying groceries and taking care of their sick child. As a working mom, I know how important it is to be able to pick up a sick child from school or stay home when an illness strikes.

Women deserve to be paid an equal wage for equal work. I will support and work to pass any legislation that provides transparency in the workplace and avenues to ensure that women earn the same as their male counterparts.

Transportation

We need to be able to navigate our cities and our region safely and reliably. A strong transportation system ensures that families are able to get to school, work, and the grocery store and many rely on transit to get around. As traffic continues to worsen, it's critical that our state and region look to new solutions and new options to move people from place to place.

Providing transit options also is key to creating sustainable and green communities by lowering carbon emissions and reducing runoff into our waterways. Do you like this page?[1]
