I graduated from Jefferson High School and currently study Business Management and Leadership at Portland State University. Throughout my time as a student at PPS, I ran multiple clubs, taught elective classes to elementary students, and advocated for special education students. I volunteered as a ZooTeen for four summers as a part of the Oregon Zoo’s Conservation Core and worked for Teressa Raiford’s 2020 mayoral campaign. My mother is a local small business owner who has been involved in the community for decades and instilled in me a love for service and civic involvement. My father is a union meatcutter in North Portland and has been an example of how union jobs help the community. Throughout my time at PPS, I noticed what worked and what needed to be fixed. I hope to bring this first-hand knowledge and experience to the school board.
  • Fixing our school buildings should be the Number One priority of the School Board. We need to modernize our century old schools while maintaining their character, charm, and tradition.
  • We need to make sure our special education students are receiving the help they need. This means we need to increase SpED programs, support SpED teachers and faculty, and ensure adequate in class instruction while simultaneously providing one-on-one support.
  • I believe in strengthening and expanding our district's bilingual programs by reaching out to other programs around the country. This will result in better serving our bilingual communities and providing social equity for our ESL students.
Education is my number one priority and that is shown my dedication to PPS throughout my years as a student there. Maintaining a balanced budget and accountability to taxpayers are also important to me.
I look up to former Mayor Bud Clark and Teressa Raiford. Two individuals how are great example of what a public servant should be, with how they engaged with people and treat people fairly even when they disagree. I would like to follow their examples by being a loyal elected official who listens to community needs and gives everyone a fair shot.
I believe a person elected to school board needs to be genuinely interested in helping their community. They need to be altruistic, service-minded, and compassionate, and open to hearing all different viewpoints.
I want to leave a legacy of service and dedication to Portland. Our city has so many important people in its history and those people have contributed greatly to our well-being. Similar to Harold Schnitzer, Lovejoy and Pettygrove, and Senator Richard Neuberger, I want to be remembered as someone who cared deeply for his city and community.
My first job was a Team Member at Burger King. It was a summer job where I learned the importance of hard work and working for what you have.
I believe a school board member's primary job should be to serve the students of their district. Every decision made should take into account how it will help students and how it will serve the community. A school board member should be 100% dedicated to the board. They should be visiting schools daily and talking with students, faculty, parents, and community members.
My constituents are the students, faculty, parents, and community members who reside within the bounds of Portland Public Schools. As a school board member I will take public input seriously and use it as my primary guide in board decisions.
I will make sure my door is always open. I will always accept meetings and I will make sure to respond to every email, phone call, and letter. By maintaining an open dialogue between the community and the board, we can make sure that we are meeting the needs of every student. On top of that, I will work to visit every school in the district every month and talk with as many students, faculty, and parents as possible.
By maintaining an open dialogue between the community and local organizations, we can make sure everyone's needs are met. I will visit and talk with local committees and organizations including business associations and neighborhood associations to get community input on school board decisions. I will also work with nonprofits to build relationships and partnerships that can save the board and taxpayers money.
