Hawaii: On Friday, R. Mark Browning became the Senior Judge on the O`ahu First Circuit Family Court. He was appointed by Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald to replace Sabrina S. McKenna, who was elevated to the Hawaii Supreme Court earlier this year.[1]

Browning has spent the majority of his judicial career on the Family Court, serving from 1997 to 2010. Last year, Governor Linda Lingle appointed him to the O`ahu First Circuit Court. Before becoming a judge, Browning worked in private practice and as the deputy prosecuting attorney for the City and County of Honolulu.[1]

Of the appointment, Chief Justice Recktenwald said, "Judge Browning has a wealth of experience at family court and cares deeply about Hawaii's children and families. I am confident that Judge Browning will provide strong leadership as senior judge."[1]
