Jesus Chavez is the superintendent of Brownsville Independent School District. He was appointed in March 2024.[1]

Past superintendents

  • René Gutiérrez was the superintendent of the Brownsville Independent School District from 2019 to 2024. Gutiérrez's previous career experience includes working as the superintendent of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District.[2]
  • Esperanza Douglas was the superintendent of the Brownsville Independent School District from 2015 to 2019.[3]
  • Carl Montoya was the superintendent of the Brownsville Independent School District from 2011 to 2015. Montoya's previous career experience included working as the superintendent of Aransas Pass Independent School District.[4]
