Bruce Charles Bennett was the Division B judge of the 21st Judicial District in Louisiana.[1] He was first elected to this position on March 8, 1988.[2] He was re-elected for the last time in 2014.[3] Bennett retired at the end of 2015.[4]

Education

Bennett received both his B.S. and J.D. degrees from Louisiana State University in 1973 and 1975, respectively.[5]

Military service

Bennett served in the U.S. Air Force from 1975 to 1979 and was part of the Judge Advocate General Corps.[5]

Career

Bennet was elected to the district court in 1988 and serves as the drug court judge for Livingston Parish. He has also taught at the University of Maryland, Los Angeles Community College and Southeastern Louisiana University.[5]

Bennett ran for re-election to the 19th Judicial District.
As an unopposed candidate, he was automatically re-elected without appearing on the ballot. [3]

Approach to the law

Bennett describes his judicial philosophy as "strict constructionist," stating, "Truth is more important than advocacy."[5]

Additionally, he describes himself as anti-abortion, while he says that he supports the 2nd Amendment, traditional marriage and traditional families, and fair and full compensating awards for personal injury.[5]
