I am a proud father of a WSU alum. I am a graduate of the University of Michigan. I'm retired from the USPS. I work part-time at Walmart with many college age young adults. I see up close their struggles to advance themselves and pay their bills. I am very independent politically. I do my best to be informed about something before voting on it. I have no problem being the one vote for or against. I treat people like how I want to be treated. I won't be bullied by anyone or organization or political party to vote a certain way that I don't already support.
  • I want to make sure every possible student feels that WSU is a place that they are welcome to attend and succeed
  • I want WSU to be considered as much a destination as the other schools in the state, if not more so.
  • I will work to improve parking and safety on campus. These are two important issues for commuters to WSU.
I am very passionate about everyone getting due process in whatever they are doing. Fairness is very important to me. Transparency is also very important to me . Be open and clear about why I am doing what I am doing.
Ron Paul, former congressman. is someone that I look up to for inspiration to live my life. He has been a very independent and intelligent voice for those without a voice.
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. Not an easy read but full of great views on economics and relationships.
Honesty and transparency are two characteristics that I feel are most important for an elected official to have.
Hard headedness in a good way. Willing to stand my ground for what I believe in. I'm willing to listen to other viewpoints and I should. Too many officeholders only listen to their party leaders.
I believe one of the core responsibilities for this office is being a good steward of what has been given to you by those who came before you. And a good steward so that you leave a better WSU when you leave. More financially stable, more inviting and safer for everyone.
I would hope that when I left that people would consider my time there as a "Golden Age" for WSU. And future generations of students will enjoy it also.
I can remember watching the funeral procession for JFK on tv. I was three years and 11 months old at the time. My mom put me down in front of the tv to watch.
My first actual paycheck job was being a cart wrangler for a major grocery chain in Michigan. I worked there for just under a month then went off to college. Before this job, I mowed lawns and the like.
"Go Dog Go" ... It's a simple book that has some depth to it if you think about it. It was one of the first books that I read by myself . It was my favorite book to read to my daughters. You can give different voices to the main characters. And make it as silly as you want it to be.
Samwise Gamgee . He wasn't the star but because of his loyalty and dependability to Frodo. The One ring was destroyed. He was very humble about it too.
ABCDEFU by Gayle . Its a catchy tune whose full meaning isn't felt until you hear the uncensored version. I also like Brave by Sara Bareilles. Good message and you can dance to it.
I'm actually somewhat of an introvert.
You probably want a clean joke here. How do you get an OSU graduate off your porch ? Pay him for the pizza.
