Brunelle, Orrall win primaries for 12th Bristol seat

BOSTON, Massachusetts: Democratic and Republican primaries were held on August 23 for the open seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives 12th Bristol District.
Roger Brunelle Jr. defeated Nancy Yeatts and Allin Frawley in the Democratic Primary. Brunelle will face Keiko Orrall in the special election on September 20. Orrall defeated Derek Maksy in the Republican primary.[1]
The election is being held to fill the vacancy created when former represnetative Stephen Canessa (D) resigned to take a job as legislative liaison for SouthCoast Health System.[2]
In Massachusetts, local governments who conduct special elections receive reimbursement from the State Treasurer's office for all costs incurred[3].
