I was born and raised in Fremont, NE and have spent my entire adult life living in Lincoln and Omaha. I was educated in Nebraska public schools and received my degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska system. I spent five years using my degree and working in the Nebraska Department of Corrections as a Corporal. In 2015 I started my career on the railroad and became involved in my local union . I was elected, and recently re-elected, by my peers to serve as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees - International Brotherhood of Teamsters Lodge 1320. I am seeking this office because I have a passion for helping my community and finding fact and science based solutions to problems. I have a strong moral compass and will always strive to see the greatest amount of people benefit from any decision that I make.
  • 1) Healthcare - Ensuring that everyone has the ability to obtain affordable, quality healthcare and that personal healthcare decisions that individuals make with their doctors are not influenced by outside forces.
  • 2) Properly Funding Public Education - Upholding the promise to both children AND teachers that we will give them the tools necessary to provide a quality education to everyone. Also, it is vital to ensure that tax dollars are used for public school and not funneled to private schools or interests.
  • 3) Dignity and Equality For All - All Nebraskans deserve the ability to feel secure, respected, and protected both in their personal and professional lives.
Protecting women's rights must be a top priority. I believe that a decision as immensely personal as getting an abortion is best left between a patient and their doctor. We need to rely on the expertise of providers and not let personal beliefs interfere with the right of a patient to receive care.

I am also passionate about properly funding public schools. Upholding the promise that we make to children and families in Nebraska to care for and properly educate their children is vital to preparing the younger generation for a successful future.
I believe that empathy and understanding are crucial traits for an official to have. Any legislator needs to understand that everyone comes from a different background and that their collective life experiences shape their worldview. As an elected official, I would listen to constituents, hear their stories, and always strive to make decisions that would have the best outcome for the most people.
In everything that I do, I strive to make sure that I leave it a little better than I found it.
I think what I would consider my first "job" was mowing lawns around the neighborhood when I was 12 or 13. I enjoyed getting to be outside and overall I found it to be relaxing and a pretty easy way to earn a dollar.
Nebraska is quickly approaching a fiscal cliff due to years of tax breaks that primarily only benefited the wealthy. We need to look at our current tax code as a whole and work to make it a more progressive and fair system for all. I want to ensure that people who have benefited from Nebraskan policies are paying their fair share in taxes to support other Nebraskans.
No. I believe that everyone brings a different viewpoint that has been shaped by their life experiences. I feel that, at times, people who have been in government positions for too long lose touch with the people they are supposed to represent and sometimes a fresh set of ideas are needed from outside people who are not part of the establishment.
I believe that being financially transparent is necessary for the government to be able to fulfill its proper role to the people. We need members of the government to only be beholden to their constituents and not to millionaires or megadonors that may have views that are not in the overall best interest of the public.
