Bryan Round
Bryan Round is a judge for Division 8 of the Missouri 16th Judicial Circuit Court. His current term ends on December 31, 2028.
Round ran for re-election for the Division 8 judge of the Missouri 16th Judicial Circuit Court. He won in the retention election on November 8, 2022.
Education
Round earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas and his J.D. at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.[1]
Career
Before becoming a judge for the 16th Judicial Circuit Court, Round was a private practice attorney with Mitchell, Kristl & Lieber starting in 2006. Before joining that firm, he had his own practice. Round was also a municipal judge for the city of Peculiar from 2004 until his appointment to the circuit bench. He was the assistant prosecuting attorney for Jackson County from 1988 to 1997. He also worked as an attorney for the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners and as a counsel to the Jackson County Combat Commission.[1]

Missouri held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on August 2, 2016. The filing deadline for those wishing to run in the primary was March 29, 2016. Judges running in a retention election on November 8 had to file by August 23.[2] Bryan Round was retained in the Missouri 16th Circuit, Division 8 election with 64.94 percent of the vote. [3]

Judicial selection method
The judges of the Missouri Circuit Courts in Clay, Greene, Jackson, Platte, and St. Louis counties and the city of St. Louis are appointed by the governor with the help of a judicial selection commission.[4]
The chief judge of each court is elected by the circuit and associate judges from among the sitting circuit judges.[5]
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must be:
- a U.S. citizen for at least 10 years;
- a qualified state voter for at least three years;
- a resident of the circuit for at least one year;
- licensed to practice law in the state; and
- at least 30 years old.[5]
