Biographical submission

Witt stated the following about his political philosophy in a biographical submission to Ballotpedia:[4]

Over the past 40 years, the leadership of both parties have thrown the working-class and small business owners overboard. They have handed our country over to Wall Street, the Military-Industrial Complex, the Fossil Fuel Industry and Silicon Valley.

The results have been catastrophic.

Their policies have produced a shrinking middle-class, massive levels of inequality, endless war, and the abandonment of organized labor. .

Our political leaders have shown, by their actions, that they are incapable of uniting our country and confronting the issues at hand.

Because of this crisis in leadership, I'm running for California's 27th Congressional seat, as a Democrat, in 2018.

If elected, I will use every power at my disposal to introduce and pass legislation for:

Universal Healthcare

Free tuition at public colleges and universities

Ending the War on Drugs and completely legalising Marijuana at the federal level.

Strict regulation over the banking and financial sector.

Creating a permanent source funding for Amtrak and other public transportation projects.

Strengthening labor unions by repealing the Taft-Hartley Act.

A massive, New Deal, type of jobs program, that will rebuild our nation's crumbling infrastructure.

A "Manhattan Project" for energy that will end our dependence on fossil fuels and decommission all or most of our nuclear power plants - replacing them with clean, sustainable alternatives.

A $15 an hour dollar minimum wage

Addressing the root causes of homelessness and permanently funding facilities that treat those who struggle with addiction, mental illness, and who are victims of domestic violence.

Ending for-profit prisons

And finally, getting money out of our political process, once and for all.
