Born, raised, and worked most of my life in NC. Attended public schools and graduated from two NC Universities which gave me many common sense values and thought processes for solutions. I am committed to securing those same opportunities for our present and future NC citizens.
  • Proper funding for EDUCATION is parqamount for the success and growth of our communities, state, and nation
  • Health Care and expansion of Medicaid. Too many lives are being destroyed by out of control health costs.
  • ENVIRONMENT must be protected and preserved for better lives today and future generations.
Every single person deserves the same right and chance at success as everyone else. For our public policies to succeed we must uphold values and trust to ensure that chance for everyone.
My father. He was a man of great values and morals. He was raised in the Methodist Children's home due to his father passing of there Spanish Flu and his mother not having the means to raise them. He educated himself and became a successful accountant. He was Mayor of Graham and Alamance County Commissioner. He was a terrific role model to his grandchildren. He always believed in treating people fairly no matter what the color of their skin. He unknowingly set the bar high and left me very large shoes to fill.
The listen and fairly represent their constituents. Come with an open mind and not a self-serving agenda. Keep lines of communications open with your public making them aware of the issues. Not to be just a rubber stamp for their party.
Honest, listen to people closely before jumping to conclusion, believe in fairness to all races and lifestyle choices
Fairly represent the people. Its not about me but the people you represent. Keep communications open and give your public the chance to know and respond to the issues presented.
That he was fair, caring, honest
It was two-fold. John F Kennedy getting elected. First time a Catholic elected to presidency and the tragic assassination of him. High School around 15yrs old.
Bookstore Manager and Director of Auxiliary Services at Elon University -20 years
Boys in the Boat. How someone overcame great odds and made something of himself
Luke Skywalker - being able to fly in outer space and all the gadgets would be really fun.
Anything from Elton John or Garth Brooks
Being a first time politician naturally I don't feel the experience is totally necessary. Of course you have to be willing to do a quick study on procedures and how they work. But fresh ideas instead of just the same old "we've always done it this way" is healthy.
The COVID -19 has exposed many weaknesses that have to be addressed going forward. Expansion of Medicaid is paramount to ensure people can seek and receive help. Moving our pay scales from a minimum wage to a living wage. Infrastructure, making sure that broadband is available to all people especially the rural areas. Finally we must address the opioid crisis in many parts of our state.
The state official that I have the best memory of and always felt he was such a class act is Gov Jim Hunt. In particular he was a real champion for public education. So vital to the growth of our state.
