Text of measure
Language on the ballot:
“ | This proposal will allow the school district to levy the statutory rate of 18 mills on all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, required for the school district to receive its revenue per pupil foundation allowance.
Shall the limiation on the amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, in Buckley Community Schools, Wexford and Grand Traverse Counties, Michigan, be increased by 18.5 mills ($18.50 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 4 years, 2013 to 2016, inclusive, to provide funds for operating purposes (18 mills of the above is a renewal of millage which expired with the 2012 tax levy and .5 mill is an increase of millagae which will be levied only to the extend necessary to restore the millage lost as a result of the reduction required by the Michigan Consitutuion of 1963); the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 2013 is approximately $409,044?[1][2] |
