Business, Financial Services & Trade Committee, Washington State Senate
The Business, Financial Services & Trade Committee (formerly the Financial Institutions, Economic Development & Trade Committee) is a standing committee of the Washington State Senate.
Per Section V of the Senate Rules, committees of the Washington State Senate are appointed by the President of the Senate and confirmed by the senate.[1] Committees are responsible for considering measures referred to them in the interest of the state.[2] The deliberations of committees considering a vote on any bill, resolution, or memorial must be open to the public.[3]

Function
The Business, Financial Services & Trade Committee considers topics including, but not limited to:
“ | issues relating to insurance, including insurance company practices, rates, and solvency. The committee deals with financial services issues, including the soundness of state banks and credit unions, the regulation of consumer credit and lending, and the regulation of securities and investments. The committee also considers economic development, international trade, regulation of business and professions and tourism issues.[4][5] | ” |
