Byron C. Williams
Byron C. Williams is a former judge for the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court in Louisiana, serving on the court from 2014 to 2020.[1][2]
Williams took a leave of absence from the bench in 2018 following an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations. Williams denied the allegations. He resigned while the investigation was still ongoing on February 12, 2020.[3][4] Click here for more information.

Williams ran for election to the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court. He was elected in the primary on November 4, 2014, receiving 67.4 percent of the vote. He competed against Paul N. Sens.[1][2]
Education
Williams received an undergraduate degree from the University of Montana, and a J.D. from Tulane University Law School.[5]
Career
Williams is an attorney for Southern University. He is a former assistant U.S. attorney and assistant district attorney.[5]
Noteworthy events
Leave of absence following misconduct allegations (2018)
Williams temporarily took a leave of absence from the bench from July 2018 to February 2020, following an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations. Williams denied the allegations.[3][6]
The state Judiciary Commission opened an investigation into allegations Williams groped a clerk and made inappropriate comments in drug court.[7] On February 12, 2020, Williams resigned from the court. At the time of his resignation, the investigation remained ongoing.[4]
