C. Dane Nolan

C. Dane Nolan is a Utah Third Judicial District judge for the courthouse of Matheson of the Third District Juvenile.[1] Nolan was first appointed to this position in June 2003 and his term expires in 2018.[2]
Education
Nolan received his J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law in 1986.[2]
Career
Nolan became his career at the Utah Legal Clinic, where he worked on domestic relations and civil rights cases from 1986 to 1989. From 1989 to 1991, he worked in the Utah Attorney General's Office in the Litigation Division. Healso worked for the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office from 1991 to 2003, where he primarily worked with child-sexual-abuse and child-physical-abuse cases. Nolan was appointed to the Third District Juvenile Court by Governor Michael O. Leavitt in June of 2003.[2]

2012
Nolan stood for retention election in 2012. On November 6, 2012, Nolan was retained with 77.7 percent of the vote and a total of 268,769 votes.[3][4]

Judicial Performance Evaluation recommendation
The Utah Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission compiled information from attorneys, court staff and jurors about the performance of all judges up for retention in 2012. Judges were evaluated based on five criteria.
A judge must score at least 3 out of 5 in each of these categories to meet the minimum performance standard. 44 attorneys responded to the following questions.
- Legal Ability: 4.23
- Communication: 4.32
- Integrity: 4.49
- Judicial temperament: 4.39
- Administrative: 4.18
