Joseph Neiles is a judge for the Second Judicial Circuit in South Dakota.[1] Neiles was appointed to the court in August 1997 by Governor William J. Janklow when the court expanded to six seats.[2] He was re-elected in 2014 for a term that expires in 2022.[3]

Neiles obtained both his undergraduate degree and his J.D. from the University of South Dakota.[4]
Career
Immediately prior to his elevation to the Second Circuit Court, Neiles was a magistrate judge for the same court. He held that position from 1988 until 1997.[5]
