Powers participated in Ballotpedia's 2016 survey of local judicial candidates. The following sections display her responses to the survey questions. When asked what non-judicial legal experience qualifies her to be a judge, the candidate made the following statement:

Presently, the position I am running for hears civil matters, with a few criminal cases. I have handled cases in almost all the areas this position will hear, both for plaintiff and defendants.[1][2]

When asked why she was running for this particular court seat, the candidate made the following statement:

This open position will hear the types of cases I have experience in handling. I believe a judge has to have practical experience along with knowing the law.[1][2]

When asked to identify one judge, past or present, who she admires, the candidate made the following statement:

All the judges that apply the law without prejudice or bias in making their decisions.[1][2]

When asked about her primary concern regarding today's judicial system in her state, the candidate made the following statement:

Funding to improve the legal system.[1][2]
