2014

Johnson highlighted the following accomplishments on his campaign website:

New Rutherford B. Gaston Middle School

Cal Johnson led the way for the construction of Gaston Middle School in West Fresno. For the first time in over 35 years our kids will have the same after school tutoring and activities that other neighborhood middle schools provide. Gaston Middle School has also replaced the “U” neighborhood, a long time magnate for crime.

New Vang Pao Elementary School

Vang Pao is the first Fresno elementary school to honor a Hmong American, long advocated for by Cal Johnson. Vang Pao helps relieve overcrowding at Winchell and Calwa Elementary Schools. This new school will provide Southeast families with a new state of the art facility for decades to come.

Edison High School and Other Projects

A new building has been built at Edison High School to replace dilapidated and portable buildings. New construction has also taken place at Fresno and Roosevelt High Schools, Sequoia Middle School and projects are planned for Columbia and King Elementary Schools.

Vocational/TechnicalEducation

Cal Johnson has long been an advocate for increased vocational and technical education opportunities, ensuring all students have access to high paying jobs and the skills needed for the 21st century.[5]
