I'm Caleb Short, and I'm running for the Iowa House of Representatives in House District 25. I'm a progressive Democrat and I work for the people. I grew up in the district, and it is an honor to represent the people of Warren and Madison Counties.
  • Increase state funding for Education across the board
  • De-privatize Iowa's Medicaid system and move towards Medicare for All
  • Increase state funding for infrastructure including making our energy system sustainable.
Education. Healthcare. Infrastructure. Social Justice. Worker's Rights. Environmental Justice.
Bayard Rustin is one of my heroes because of how he spoke out for people who no one else would, even at personal detriment to himself. I also look up to Senator Bernard Sanders because of how he has been so consistent and genuine.
I remember the first Gulf War. My uncle was in the National Guard, and we thought he was going to get deployed. I was 4 years old.
My first job was detasseling corn! I did it for two summers. I also worked as a grocery sacker at a local grocery store.
I met a 92 year old Vietnam War Army veteran who was a small business owner. His brother was a state senator and his whole family is politically active. I hope to work to make Iowa a better place for people like him and his family.
