The California Mortgage Assessments Amendment, also known as Amendment 26, was on the ballot in California on November 3, 1908, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was defeated. The measure would have repealed the section of the constitution that required the assessment of a mortgage deed of trust, contract or other secured debt and the taxes due upon such assessment.[1][2]
