California Proposition 157 was on the ballot as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment in California on November 3, 1992. It was defeated.
A "yes" vote supported banning the collection of tolls on road or highways owned by the state and leased to a private entity after tolls had been collected for 35 years or upon expiration of the lease (whichever occurs first). |
A "no" vote opposed banning the collection of tolls on road or highways owned by the state and leased to a private entity after tolls had been collected for 35 years or upon expiration of the lease (whichever occurs first). |
Proposition 157 would have amended Section 7, Article XX of the California Constitution to ban the collection of tolls on road or highways owned by the state and leased to a private entity after tolls had been collected for 35 years or upon expiration of the lease (whichever occurs first). These bans could have been suspended by a two-thirds vote of the California State Legislature.
