A “yes” vote supported requiring the state to provide $180 of support for each student and requiring $120 of such support to go to the school district that each student attends.

A “no” vote opposed requiring the state to provide $180 of support for each student and requiring $120 of such support to go to the school district that each student attends.

Ballot summary

The ballot summary for this measure was:

Initiative Constitutional Amendment. Amends Article IX, Section 6, of the State Constitution. Increases required State support for public schools to One Hundred Eighty Dollars per year for each pupil in average daily attendance, of which each local school district shall receive not less than One Hundred Twenty Dollars per pupil. To become operative July 1, 1953.
