California Proposition 9 was on the ballot as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment in California on November 6, 1956. It was defeated.
A “yes” vote supported allowing county charters to establish a borough form of government in unincorporated parts of its territory, allowing such borough to exercise county powers, and determining that the county shall be governed as provided by the county charter. |
A “no” vote opposed allowing county charters to establish a borough form of government in unincorporated parts of its territory, allowing such borough to exercise county powers, and determining that the county shall be governed as provided by the county charter. |
