Elections for the office of California State Assembly were held on November 2, 2010. State assembly seats in all districts were on the ballot in 2010.
The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 25, 2010, and the primary was June 8, 2010.
Members of the California State Assembly serve two-year terms with a three term limit.
The incumbent ran for re-election in 52 of the 80 (65%) races in 2010.
As a result of the election, Democrats gained seats in the California General Assembly. This was one of the few chambers that had Democratic gains in 2010.

- See also: State legislatures with term limits
The California State Assembly became a term-limited state house when California voters approved Proposition 140 in 1990. Under the terms of Proposition 140, the members of the state assembly can serve no more than three 2-year terms in the state assembly. This is a lifetime limit, as was the case in five other states with state legislative term limits as of 2010.
There are 80 members in the state assembly, and 17 of them (21%) termed-out in 2010.
In addition to the 17 California state representatives who left office because of term limits, 8 California state senators also termed-out.
California state representatives whose seats were up for election in 2010 but who were unable to run because of the state's term limits were:
Democrats (11):
- Tom Torlakson
- Alberto Torrico
- Ira Ruskin
- Joe Coto
- Pedro Nava
- Hector De La Torre
- Noreen Evans
- Ted Lieu
- Lori Saldaña
- Dave Jones (California)
