Incumbent Billy Long (R) defeated Genevieve Williams (D) and Benjamin Brixey (L) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Long defeated Nathan Clay, Christopher Batsche, Matthew Evans, Lyndle Spencer, Matthew Canovi, James Nelson, and Mary Byrne in the Republican primary, while Williams defeated Camille Lombardi-Olive, and Steven Reed to win the Democratic nomination. The primary elections took place on August 2, 2016. Long won re-election in the November 8 election.[1][2][3]
