I have almost a decade of judicial experience including over six years as a Commissioner in Superior Court. For almost two-and-a-half years in that time, I served in a special assignment as a full-time pro tem Trial Judge to address the backlog of cases after the pandemic. I have also been an Administrative Law Judge and a pro tem Magistrate in Municipal Court.

I have presided over thousands of cases involving families, juveniles, people’s property, finances, and children. Daily, I handle cases involving violence, substance abuse, and mental illness. In each case, I am committed to being impartial and fair, and to making sure my courtroom is a place where every voice is heard.

I will bring much-needed experience and stability to the Pierce County Superior Court bench at a time when there is significant turnover.

I will also bring substantial experience working with families, persons in crisis, and marginalized communities. I worked as an attorney for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in both family law and dependency cases.

My undergraduate degree is in business, and I have worked for a non-profit organization, as a marketing manager of a publicly traded company, and as a small business owner. I have also been an adjunct professor.

I serve on local and state-wide committees that support the administration of our court system. I will be a strong contributor to the administrative work of the court, which will support improved access to justice.
  • I have the greatest depth and breath of judicial experience to serve as a Superior Court Judge, and I am ready to handle the most important cases that come before the court. My background and experience will bring much-needed stability to the Pierce County Superior Court bench at a time when there is significant turnover. I have presided over thousands of cases demonstrating a proven track record of making fair and impartial decisions that promote access to justice, community safety, and strong families. I am the most qualified candidate for Pierce County Superior Court, Position 10.
  • I am a public servant. My judicial priorities are to make the court more accessible and ensure each person's voice is heard. As an attorney, I volunteered hundreds of hours at free legal clinics to help low-income people and survivors of domestic violence have a voice in court. I am the only candidate for Position 10 who lives in Pierce County, and I volunteer with local organizations including the Tacoma Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the Washington State Animal Response Team (WASART) -- organizations that help people and animals find safety during crisis situations.
  • I will bring substantial experience working with the most challenging and vulnerable types of cases including children and families, persons in crisis, marginalized communities, and self-represented parties. I will be a strong contributor to the administration of the Court, which will support improved access to justice for all persons who engage with our local court system. In addition, as a gay woman, I will add important diversity to the Pierce County Superior Court bench where there are currently no openly LGBTQ+ judges.
Access to affordable civil legal services is a critical component of access to justice. The current lack of access to civil legal services impacts people in court every day. I see hardworking people with good jobs who cannot afford an attorney, and I see self-represented litigants doing the best they can to navigate a system that was not designed to be particularly accessible to them. I see it in court filings that lack crucial facts and details, in missed opportunities to raise issues, and in the faces of people who are overwhelmed when they come into court. Access to civil legal services is critical to ensuring access to justice because it supports people who must come to court and increases consistently fair and just results.
The first time I was in court was in high school after being assaulted by my youth pastor. I had the opportunity to provide a victim impact statement and speak to the judge at the sentencing. Through that experience, I came to understand the power of courts to give a voice to someone who had been powerless.

I became a lawyer to use this power to help others. I dedicated my career as an attorney to giving people a voice in court. I volunteered hundreds of hours at free legal clinics for low-income people and survivors of domestic violence.

Now, as a full-time judicial officer for over eight years, I ensure that my courtroom is a place where every person’s voice is heard. Not everyone gets the outcome they want when they go to court, but in my courtroom, everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

My ability to listen and empathize with people while analyze and apply the law to complex facts makes me a successful Court Commissioner and will make me a successful and effective Judge.
I have received the highest possible rating of Exceptionally Well Qualified from the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association, the Pierce County Minority Bar Association, and Washington Women Lawyers. I have also been endorsed by over 70 judicial officers including the majority of Justices on the Washington State Supreme Court.
I have been endorsed by elected officials, community leaders, and organizations including: Senator Yasmin Trudeau; House Speaker Laurie Jinkins; Kristin Ang, Port of Tacoma Commissioner President and Co-Chair of Northwest Seaport Alliance; the Pierce County Central Labor Council; the Washington Farm Bureau; Pierce County Democrats; Pierce County Young Democrats; 2nd, 25th, 27th, 28th, and 31st Legislative District Democrats; Ryan Mello, Pierce County Council Chair; Indivisible Tacoma; LGBTQ+ Victory Fund; over 70 judicial officers including Judges, Commissioners, and the majority of the Washington Supreme Court Justices.
