I am a retired mom with 3 children and 2 grandchildren.

I was born in Florida and graduated the University of Georgia with a B. S. in Biochemistry. I worked at a global chemical company for 38 years during which time I raised 3 kids and got a Masters degree from Webster University. My experience was in QC, QA, compliance, change notification and quality agreements. I retired in 2019 to be near family and experience the beauty of Colorado. Community is important to me. So I have joined a local book club and a senior hiking group. I am also an avid trivia player and bike 3-4 times a week. I am President of the local AARP chapter and try to support local charities and businesses.

I decided to run for school board to promote respect and dignity in the local educational arena.
  • Respect and Dignity- we all have different opinions on how things should work. But to solve the issues we must listen to all points of view with respect and dignity- divisiveness and discord cannot solve problems.
  • Service- I will strive to advance District policy with an unwavering dedication to the holistic well-being and achievement of all students we are privileged to serve.
  • Safety and Security- it is my priority to help District’s 49 administration fortify educational environments where students, teachers and staff can thrive without fear for their personal safety.
A few of the issues I am passionate about are:

1) Supporting the advancement of equal education for all and lowering of college costs
2) Voting rights- everyone deserves the right to vote
3) Separation of church and state with complete religious freedom

4) A new and better immigration policy
I know how to listen to both sides of an issue. I can take these opinions and bounce them against the topic in question and come up with an appropriate response to present back to the audience who raised their concern.
I was 10 years old when President Kennedy was killed. I was on the playground when it was announced. As I remember everyone was totally silent- no one knew what to say or how to react.
I love the song “The River” by Garth Brooks. Every time I hear it I cannot stop trying to sing the chorus. The chorus reinforces following your dreams and never giving up.
I would say to promote the well being of the students and parents while elevating the district’s state scores. This all has to be done while following all state and local laws and by listening to any and all suggestions from the population of the district.
My constituents are all the folks who live in the district including the kids as sometimes they have great ideas that others may not have thought of.
I believe availability is the answer. I have no issues being early and staying late at schools board meetings to meet with parents. Also I can and will have meet-ups at local restaurants or any meeting rooms that are available at local gyms or schools. There will also be an email box that I will review.
Communication with parents is key for the health of their kids and the district as a whole.
