Candidates come together to discuss challenges related to campaigning in 2020
Ballotpedia launches discussion series to let candidates share experiences

Middleton, Wis. - April 3, 2020: Over 100 candidates running for offices in 2020 connected on Wednesday to discuss how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting their campaigns.
Candidates from all over the country and across the political spectrum joined Ballotpedia’s video call, sharing their stories, listening to others’ experiences, and offering support. These candidates are seeking election to the U.S. House, governorship, state legislature, and a wide variety of local offices.
Candidates asked questions and shared stories about ballot access, fundraising, advertising, and the best ways to support their communities during this difficult time.

“It was great to see these candidates set aside their policy differences for an hour and acknowledge the challenging situation affecting them all, and discuss how they will navigate this together,” said Sarah Rosier, Ballotpedia’s Director of Strategic Partnerships and host of Wednesday’s call. “I loved watching how kind, supportive, and helpful the candidates were being in the chat throughout the call.”

Ballotpedia plans to host more virtual events for candidates, including more large calls, small group discussions, and a Ballotpedia moderated private Facebook group providing a safe space for candidates to continue to connect.
Ballotpedia hopes to provide additional resources and support to candidates and voters during the coronavirus pandemic. As in-person events are limited, candidates are encouraged to submit information to Ballotpedia and participate in Ballotpedia’s Candidate Conversations project, a virtual debate, so that they can get more of their information in front of voters.
Ballotpedia projects that 1 in 3 voters will come to the site to research candidates before voting in the November election.
