Candidates set for Texas primaries

Texas: The judicial candidates for the March 2, 2010 primary in Texas have been set. There are three open seats on the Texas Supreme Court.

There are six Republican candidates running to replace Justice Harriet O'Neill for Place 3: Jeff Brown, a judge on the 14th Court of Appeals; Rick Green, a lecturer and former state representative; Debra Lehrmann, Tarrant County family district judge (District 360); Jim Moseley, a judge on the 5th Court of Appeals; Rebecca Simmons, a judge on the 4th Court of Appeals; and Rick Strange, a judge on the 11th Court of Appeals.

In Place 9, Eva Guzman, who was recently appointed to the court, is being challenged by Rose Vela of the 13th Court of Appeals.

In the Democratic primary, three candidates are running unopposed. Jim Sharp is running for Place 3, Bill Moody for Place 5, and Blake Bailey for Place 9.

Although there are no Libertarian ticket primary races, the following Libertarian candidates are also seeking election: William Bryan Strange III for Place 3; Tom Oxford for Place 5; and Jack Armstrong for Place 9.[1]
