Jurisdiction

Judges of the Surrogate's Court are elected in each county to five-year terms. Surrogate court judges administer wills, trusts, and estates. They also serve as the deputy clerk of the superior court.[1][2]

Judicial elections in New Jersey

New Jersey is one of 11 states that does not use judicial elections as a selection method. Instead, judges are selected by one of the appointment methods.
