Cara Cromwell is the founder and principal of Cromwell Public Affairs, a communications consulting firm based in Bristol, R.I.[1] She is also publisher of Straight up the middle, a blog about Rhode Island politics.[2] She served as a volunteer adviser and spokesperson on Governor Gina Raimondo's (D) transition team.[3][4] In 2010, Cromwell was campaign manager for Republican John Loughlin's campaign for Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District.[5]
Career
Cromwell was an executive press assistant to then-Governor of Rhode Island Bruce Sundlun (D) from 1992 to 1993. From 1993 to 2005, Cromwell was an advocacy strategist with various Washington D.C.-area public affairs firms such as Chlopak, Leonard, Schechter and Associates (1993-1995), Lunde and Burger/Decision Management (1995-1998), Shandwick Public Affairs (1998-2003) and Edelman Issues Advocacy (2003-2005).[1] In 2005, Cromwell founded Cromwell Public Affairs, her eponymous communications consulting firm in Bristol, R.I. In 2010, Cromwell was campaign manager for Republican John Loughlin's campaign for Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District.[5] From 2014-2015, she served as a volunteer adviser and spokesperson on Governor Gina Raimondo's (D) transition team.[3][4]
Cromwell has provided commentary to media outlets such as WPRI news, the Boston Globe and the Warren Times-Gazette.[6][7][8] In 2012, Cromwell was named to the list of Top 500 Influencers in American Politics by Campaigns & Elections Magazine.[9]
