Cara Smith was a judge of the Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois. She assumed office on July 1, 2020. She left office in 2022.

Smith was a judge on the Cook County 7th Subcircuit in Cook County, Illinois. She was appointed to the court on May 13, 2019, to replace Judge Marianne Jackson.[1] She left office in 2020 when she was appointed to the Cook Circuit Court.[2]

Education

Smith earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a J.D. from the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.[2]

Career

Prior to her appointment to the Cook County 7th Subcircuit, Smith had served as the Chief Policy Officer for the Office of the Cook County Sheriff since 2015. She has also served in leadership positions for the Office of the Illinois Attorney General and the Illinois Department of Corrections.[2]
