Carcieri makes Supreme Court nomination
March 9, 2010
Rhode Island: Governor Carcieri has nominated Superior Court judge Gilbert V. Indeglia for a lifetime term on the Rhode Island Supreme Court. Indeglia was one of five applicants for the seat reviewed by the state Judicial Nominating Commission. The nomination is still subject to confirmation from the Rhode Island Legislature.
Carcieri said of the nomination: "For the past 20 years, Justice Indeglia has rightfully earned a reputation for being one of the most conscientious, compassionate and consistent jurists to have served on the bench. His reputation on the bench is matched by his reputation in his community and he is considered a great civic leader, lending his time and energy to his community. His experience, intellect, respect for our legal system and his personal character will serve him well as an associate justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court."[1]
