Carefree Town Property Tax Changes, 2 (March 2011)

Two Carefree Town Property Tax Change measures were on the March 8, 2011 ballot in the town of Carefree, which is in Maricopa County.

Both measures were approved

The first measure, known as proposition 422, sought to add a provision in the town code that ensures that a two-thirds vote of the council members would be needed in order to present a property tax vote to the residents.[1] This measure will create a new section in the town code, section 15, which will also include the second measure in that section. This was brought forth by a petition drive which collected more than the needed 227 signatures to validate it for the ballot.[2]

  • NO 406 (31.12%)

The second measure, known as proposition 423, sought to make it so that a majority of registered voters need to approve any property tax increase before it can be enacted by the council.[1]

  • YES 754 (70.8%)Approveda
