Alaska House of Representatives District 13

Carl Gatto (b. December 29, 1937) was a Republican member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing the 13th District from 2003 until his death in office on April 10, 2012.[1] Prior to his election to the House, he served as Vice President of the Matanuska-Susitna School Board from 2000-2002.

Biography

Gatto's professional experience includes working as a senior captain and paramedic with the Anchorage Fire Department from 1974 to 2000, high school teacher, college teacher and engineer.

Gatto was a member of Alaska Right to Life, National Right to Life, Palmer Chamber of Commerce and Wasilla Chamber of Commerce.[2]

  • HB 138 - "An Act relating to cruelty to animals."[3]

Gatto won re-election to the 13th District seat in 2010. He defeated Don Benson in the August 24 primary.[4] He then ran unopposed in the November 2, 2010, general election.[5]

2008

In 2008, Gatto was re-elected to the Alaska House of Representatives District 13. Gatto (R) finished with 7,285 votes while his opponent David Cheezem (D) finished with 3,067.[6] Gatto raised $11,624 for his campaign fund.[7]
