Genthner's professional experience includes working as a defense contractor, supporting the U.S. Navy. He served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty years.
Genthner earned his Master's in human resources from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri.

Excerpt: "As your delegate I will:
- Work to revitalize the Route 28 corridor and ease congestion.
- Secure funding for public transit, especially in the West end of the county.
- Lay the groundwork to establish high speed rail in Virginia.
- Work to find a solution that will permanently fix the transportation fund."
- Environment
Excerpt: "We must work to keep our woods and our waters free from pollution so that sportsmen can continue to hunt and fish and pass these traditions down to their children and grandchildren. We must not sacrifice our wildlife and wilderness in the name of economic development or surrender them to corporate interests."
- Virginia Retirement System
Excerpt: "I propose requiring Virginia to pay 100% of its yearly calculated obligation and to produce a plan to close the gap over some interval of years. The details would have to be negotiated but I envision some sort of economic trigger that when times are good the plan recoups shortages and when bad only the required payments are made. My proposal would have the pension fund fully funded in time to provide promised benefits to our employees."
