An effort to recall Mayor Carl Shaw in Edgemont, South Dakota from his position was launched in January 2014. The recall did not go to a vote.[1]

On January 21, 2014, the city council rejected the petitions submitted for the recall of Shaw . City attorney Jim Sword recommended that the council reject the petitions on the grounds that they were not properly verified and lacked sufficiently specific language regarding the reasons for recall. Recall proponent Bev Graham maintained that she would initiate new petitions and start the process over.[1]
