Carla J. Peterman
Carla J. Peterman was a member of the California Public Utilities Commission, the state body charged with regulating the state's utility companies, from 2012 to 2018. Peterman was appointed to the CPUC by Gov. Jerry Brown effective December 21, 2012.[1]
Biography
Peterman is a Rhodes Scholar. She earned both a master of science degree and master of business administration from Oxford University.
Prior to her appointment to the Public Utilities Commission by Gov. Jerry Brown in December of 2012, Peterman served as an appointed member of the California Energy Commission. At the time of her appointment to the PUC, she was nearing the end of her doctoral studies in energy and resources at the University of California, Berkeley.[1]

Peterman was appointed to the California Public Utilities Commission by Gov. Jerry Brown on December 21, 2012.[1] She served until December 2018, when she did not seek reappointment to another six-year term.[2]

The California Public Utilities Commission is a quasi-executive agency in the California state government. The commission regulates the state's privately owned electric, natural gas, telecommunications, water, railroad, rail transit, and passenger transportation companies.[3]
