Carlos Augusto Rodriguez was a Juvenile Delinquency Division judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed by former Governor Charlie Crist in January of 2009, effective in March. He replaced the late Judge Howard M. Zeidwig. In 2010, Rodriguez was re-elected to a six-year term that ended on January 2, 2017.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Rodriguez received his B.A. degree (in political science) from Furman University in 1977 and his J.D. degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 1980.[1][2]

Career

Rodriguez began his career in 1980 as an Assistant Public Defender in Broward County. He became the Chief Public Defender in 1984. The following year, he entered the private practice of law. He ran his own law firm, Carlos A. Rodriguez, P.A., for 22 years prior to his appointment to the circuit court in 2009.[1][2]

2010 election

Rodriguez ran for re-election and defeated Frieda Goldstein in the primary, winning 57.9 percent of the vote. He then ran unopposed in the general election on November 2nd.[3][5]
