Carlos Chappelle
Carlos Chappelle was the presiding judge for the 14th District Court in Tulsa County, Oklahoma. He first joined the court as a special judge in 1991. In 2009, he was appointed district judge by Governor Brad Henry. He was re-elected in 2010 and 2014. Chappelle became presiding judge in January 2014 and was the first black person to hold this position in District 14.[1] He retired on May 31, 2015, for health reasons.[2] He then died of cancer on June 28, 2015.[3]
Education
Chappelle earned an undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Oklahoma. He received his J.D. from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1980.[4]
Career
Chappelle worked as an attorney in private practice prior to becoming a judge.[4]
