Biography

Carlos Walker was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1998 to 2000. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2002, a graduate degree from the University of North Texas in 2008, and a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas in 2020. His career experience includes working as an educator and business owner.[1]

My name is Dr. Carlos L. Walker, Sr. and I am a Fort Worth native who attended public schools in Fort Worth ISD. For the past 22 years, I have been employed by Fort Worth ISD, and I have served in a variety of roles to include: long-term substitute teacher at Morningside Middle; Algebra I / Algebra II teacher, assistant football, and head boys track coach at Paschal High School, Assistant Principal at O. D. Wyatt High School, Principal at Morningside Middle School, Principal at Dunbar High School, and have served as a Director for the past 9 years. I am also the executive director of Fort Worth Connect, a nonprofit organization that focuses on affordable housing, education, mentoring, and workforce development. I am a farmer who believes Texas must focus on our local agriculture. I have been married to Nakisha Walker for the past 23 years and we have 4 children, and 1 grand child as of April 16, 2024. I am the son of a truck driver who was a member of a local Teamster group and a nurse who still works at the age of 75. I am also a Navy veteran and the proud father of an Army veteran, Christopher, our oldest child, as well as a current Marine, Carlos, Jr., our youngest child. We also have two daughters, Xavier, our second oldest, is a graduate of the University of North Texas and now works in cybersecurity. Courtlyn, who third child was the youngest graduate in her class at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at the age of 19 and is currently a third grade teacher.
  • As an educator, I will support policies related to increasing teacher pay, as well as re-evaluating current laws in reference to our state education accountability system.
  • As a farmer, I will support policies that on producing non-GMO products and seeds without chemicals added to maximize production.
  • As a Navy veteran, I will support policies that focus on mental health, affordable housing, and workforce training for veterans transitioning out of the military As an educator, farmer, and Navy veteran, I am most interested in education, agriculture, and veteran affairs.
