I am retired from 17 years of dedicated child rearing, 18 years of non-profit management (most of which were with the Iowa Psychological Association) and 3 years of Pocahontas Chamber of Commerce management.

My B.S. degree is in education.

I've lived in District 10 for 37 years.
  • Rural Iowa deserves broadband.
  • Rural Iowa needs better access to mental health treatment centers to alleviate pressure on our law enforcement, educators and hospitals
  • Poverty in rural Iowa linked to substance abuse needs to be addressed with affordable housing and increased minimum wage.
Public policies that are mindful of climate change and sensitive to social justice are my main passions.
My daughters push me and inspire me keep on keeping on.
Honorability. Otherness. Honesty. Kindness. Strength. Conviction
To serve the country honoring the law and a code of personal ethics.
I would like to be remembered for being kind and authentic.
Kennedy's assassination. I was in 3rd grade. Our TV was broke but dad later bought The Torch is Passed. I spent hours looking at that book.
About 3 years cleaning house for my dentist. I was raising money to go to Mexico with my high school Spanish class.
Anything written by Richard Russo. I think his dry sense of humor is hilarious.
My biggest challenge was parenting. I poured myself into it. I set career aside for 17 years to raise my 4 daughters and I think that was a lot of pressure on myself. I also think it would have been healthy for them to see their mom as a working mom. That said, they have all turned out great!
Restoring our democracy and civility. We still don't recognize our ugly history and we must if we are to move forward.
They have a lot of power. They are imbalanced however with rural areas having more weight than urban. That is wrong in my view. I am loving the Michele Obama podcasts and love that she encourages taking the high road. That was always what my dad taught me.
No. Just important to be educated, civic minded and analytical in your thinking.
I think it is disruptive to discourse and disruptive to resolving issues efficiently.
