Campaign themes
2017
Hulbert provided the following candidate statement for the New York City voter guide:
“ |
My campaign is about equality and justice. I will be working to make housing more accessible for low-income families, improving the conditions in public housing and protecting rent-stabilized buildings, many of them facing displacement to gentrification by predatory real state developers in Sunset Park and Red Hook. We must bring environmentally friendly jobs to our area, improve our public school system, provide healthcare for all and make our public transportation more efficient. Ending Broken Windows policing is a deep concern in our communities of color where our young people are targeted to feed a flourishing private prison industry. We have the obligation to provide our youth with a thriving environment that should only make them good citizens, developing their full potential. The members of community boards in District 38 should represent us and they must be elected by the people in regular elections. We should also have a saying in selecting our police leaders and expanding the participatory budgeting.[2][3] |
