General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 22.5 percent of the vote. She competed against Jeff Mittelhauser and Deborah Mitchell. [1][2]

Smith received her undergraduate degree from Central Missouri State University. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of Missouri.[3]
