I am a husband, father, grandfather, legislator, lawyer, assistant scoutmaster, Chair of the Sudbury Housing Trust, member of the Sudbury Council on Aging, Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Higher Education, member of the Massachusetts Citizens Commission Concerniing a Constitutional Amendment for Government of the People and American Promise working to enact a 28th Amendment to once again enable our Congress and state legislatures to reasonably regulate political spending (as we were able to before the SCOTUS Citizens United vs. FEC decision 12 years ago). I grew up in Watertown MA and raised a family in Sudbury where my wife and I have lived since 1981.My political life began in the 1960's when friends' older brothers and my brother-in-law went off to fight in Southeast Asia. Democracy requires participation. In the legislature I have successfully passed laws to improve public education providing inceased state aid to cities and towns, enacted generational changes in our criminal justice system, successfully led efforts to increase pay for homecare staff and bolster the center for employee ownership. My goals are to improve education, public health, provide affordable housing, enable the creation of good jobs, transition the Commonwealth away from fossil fuels and enable us to be 100% energy independent using clean renewable sources of energy such as wind and solar.
  • I will always fight to see that every person receives the health care they require. I was recognized as a Rowe Act Champion before the Supreme Court rendered its Dobbs decision overturning Roe v Wade. After Dobbs I voted to strenghen the Comonwealth's family plannning resources, appropriiating funds in anticipation of providing safe legal abortion care to women traveling to our Commonwealth from other states whose legislatures had, after Dobbs, closed the door on life saving procedures, abortions after rape or incest, and other safe medical care for women aqs well as LGBTQ persons requiring care and treatment..
  • I will continue to work to have Massachusertts lead the nation in wind power, creating thousands of good paying jobs, and enabling all our residents and businesses to economically transition from reliance on oil, gas, wood, or coal to electricty for transportation, heating, and comercial use generated 100% by clean reneable sources such as solar and wind with necessary battery storage.
  • In addition to passing laws and budget appropriations, as your State Representative, I am here to provide services for any and all of my constituents who have a need which state government ought to meet. Whether it is a state agency that is failing to act for you in a timely manner, a utility or business that is regulated by the state, or otherise, my office stands ready to help you. Some of my most satisfying moments have been when we were able to successfully assist constituents with life's problems:getting the electricity quickly turned back on for a husband and wife returning home from the hospital with their first newborn, obtaining unemployment benefits during the pandemic, and solving many other constituent problems.
Ending the use of poisonoius cancer causing herbicides on our school grounds and only allowing safe EPA approved products. Drastically reducing or eliminating the use of glyphosate (active ingredient in Round-Up) on vegetation throughout the Commonwealth. Monsanto had $4billion in personal injury judgmnents when Bayer purchased it and became the sole manufacturer now putting $20 billion aside to eventually settle all claims - and we still allow its use poisioning our foods in Massachusetts and elsewhere.

Germany, Holland, France and other European countries have provided free higher education to all comers (including Massachusetts residents) since the 1970s We can provide free public higher education in Massachusets, a wealthy state in a wealthy coiuntry. A state which already enjoys the most well educated workforce in the U.S. We need to lead - and we do.
Pay our home care health aides and home care workers a liveable wage. They provide esential care once, twice or three times a week which enables many seniors and persons with disabilities to remain living happily at home instead of a nursing home. I successfully lead the fight for pay increases this year and last after a decade of no increases but workers still are paid less than a livable wage and benefits. Five thousand seniors and others approved to receive care at home are not reciveing care because there are not people taking those jobs.

We need to create 200,000 more units of housing to meet demand.
My mother and father beacause of their love of family, work ethic, and participation in community life, along with Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt because they maintained our country and successfully led us forward at times when a lesser leader would have observed our disintegration and downfall.
The election of John F. Kennedy as President in Novemebr 1960. I was 6 years 11 months of age.
Worked at a supermarket a few miles from my home in high school for a few months bicycling back and forth as I was too young to drive. My senior year I had a car and worked 25 hours per week at Westinghouse Learning Corporation printing report cards for many school districts.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Massachusetts

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
